If you have not been to Higgins House at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI): you need to go. This place is amazing – the house is a tudor style mansion built between 1920-23. The design of the house is based on the Compton Wyngates Castle in Warwickshire, England (built in 1525), so as you can imagine – it’s beautiful! And that’s just the building – there are also several amazing gardens surrounding it. What a gem in the middle of Worcester!
Sadly, if I understand correctly, in order to reserve the house for your wedding, you must be a WPI grad. Wish I would have known about it when we got married – David is an alumnus! I suppose January wouldn’t have been the best time to be married here though.
Anyway, back to this wedding – I can no longer say that I have never been a part of a wedding – as a guest, participant, or photographer – that has been AHEAD of schedule! Andrea was amazing at planning and organizing to be sure things happened on time – and eventually we got ahead!
Here’s the day in pictures:
We started at their house where the bride and bridesmaids were getting ready. Then, quickly went to where the groom and groomsmen were. Apparently I’m multitalented – I also tied the groomsmen’s ties while we were there!
Then we made it to the Higgins House and met up with the bridesmaids and bride again. We got some more shots of the dress, some of the gorgeous flowers (by A Beautiful Bouquet) and also some bridal portraits before the ceremony.
The ceremony was lovely – and short! I heard from someone that it was a mere 7 minutes – you’d never know by the number of images we got!
Following the ceremony we took the formal portraits with family and bridal party, but then we got to my favorite part of any wedding day – the portraits alone with the bride and groom.
The reception was so fun! The food was amazing (by Chartwell’s at WPI), the cake was beautiful and so suited the feel of the wedding – it was funfetti cake (by Evie’s Cake Crafts)! The DJ did an amazing job of getting everyone out and dancing as well. What a night! We had an amazing time and are so thankful that we were able to be a part of this celebration!
